About Us
Generations of knowledge, at your service
Those of you with a canny eye may have noticed the “Est 2011” on our company logo. Indeed, if you wind back a little over 10 years you would see the grand reopening of the original Greengrocer in the heart of Thirsk Market Place.
Lovingly restored to its former glory after years of decline, husband and wife team of Philip and Angela Hebdon showed their class by investing in the bricks and mortar of a shop after decades of market trading. It is those long years of experience that are the foundations of our current business, as the brother and sister pairing of Fiona and James Potter, who took over the business in 2015, both spent their youth working on their predecessors stalls based in Thirsk and Northallerton or at the company lock up packing wholesale orders for the hospitality trade.
After a couple of successful years running the shop together, James left the business and made way for Charlie, Fiona’s now husband, to take over the reigns and they continue to run the shop in Thirsk like the original husband and wife team. A few more years down the line and a handful of adventures later, enter the global pandemic and James was back to pick up where he left off with the new premises in Bedale.
While the shops are run as separate businesses, the decision was made to use the same brand, as both would share knowledge and continue to build on the rich heritage of their former employers.
