These small, round, velvety treats are a classic stone fruit, with their flavour most accurately described as a cross between a peach and a plum. The skin has a rosy orange blush and when ripe, the flesh is smooth, juicy and sweet.

They are available through the European summer time where they are grown predominantly in France, Italy and Spain for British export, though you may also catch a few over winter when they are shipped from a handful of southern hemisphere countries.
