Kiwi Fruit
Extended Product Information
About our Kiwi Fruit
This small oval fruit is roughly the size of a hens egg, with a thin, fibrous and fuzzy skin which can be eaten, though is often discarded due to it’s tart flavour. The bright green, seeded flesh of the most common variety has a unique sweet flavour and is packed full of nutrients to aid a healthy lifestyle including vitamins C, E, K and fibre.
Native to central and eastern China, the Kiwifruit was first grown commercially in New Zealand where it gained its common name but is often known as a Chinese Gooseberry. Less common but arguably even more delicious is the Golden Kiwi, with a super sweet, golden yellow flesh giving notes of citrus – keep your eyes peeled for these, you don’t want to miss out!
About the Farmer
We always try to get our fresh produce from local farmers, and by using those smaller scale, non-contract farms, it results in a better quality of products for our customers. If we have to adapt to the changing market conditions, we always ensure we use the regional farm network, pick the best quality produce and ensure a fair price is paid through the supply chain to support the British farming community.
