Similar in size and weight to the Galia, Cantaloupe Melons have a pale green/beige, rough, netted skin that gives off a slightly musky aroma which will intensify as the fruit ripens. Lined with a bright green ring just under the skin, the orange flesh of a ripe fruit has a distinct sweet, honeyed and slightly musky flavour which is perfect as a healthy snack, tossed through salads or as an accompaniment to cured meats.

The seeds of a Cantaloupe Melon can also be eaten once cleaned, dried and roasted – a great crunchy topping for a salad or a snack on it’s own. They are generally available all year round from Mediterranean countries or Central/South
America depending on the month.
