Galia Melon
Galia Melon
- Greengrocer's Triple Lock for Quality
Extended Product Information
About our Galia Melon
A small spherical melon, the Galia is actually a hybrid cross between the Honeydew and Cantaloupe that was first cultivated in the 1970s. It’s size and skin closer resemble the Cantaloupe, while the flesh is more akin to a Honeydew.
Super sweet in flavour and rich in vitamin C, these melons have a pale green/white flesh that is most widely used as a simple snack on its own, but also often seen as a classic combination with cured meats as an appetiser. The skin will change from a light green to a deeper yellow/orange when ripe while giving off a sweet aroma.
About the Farmer
We always try to get our fresh produce from local farmers, and by using those smaller scale, non-contract farms, it results in a better quality of products for our customers. If we have to adapt to the changing market conditions, we always ensure we use the regional farm network, pick the best quality produce and ensure a fair price is paid through the supply chain to support the British farming community.
