Thought to be native to South Asia, Lemons are a hugely popular citrus fruit found all over the world famed for their acidic, sour taste with many culinary uses aside from the mass produced Lemonade.

Eureka Lemons are the most widely cultivated variety you will traditionally find in supermarkets – slightly smaller, more acidic and duller skinned, the trees produce fruit all year round which is why they are popular for the mass produced market. When possible, we opt for the Spanish Primofiori Lemon, this fruit has a vibrant yellow, smooth and thin rind that most importantly gives a high yield of sweeter juice than the Eureka.

Other notable varieties include the Spanish Verna Lemon, popular for its tender flesh, or the Sicilian Villafranca and Femminello, who’s unique volcanic Mediterranean growing conditions produce knockout flavour.
