Pomegranate
Extended Product Information
About our Pomegranate
Pomegranates are medium sized, round fruits harvested from a deciduous shrub that are native to an area covering the Middle East and northern India. They are now cultivated all over the world, with good availability most of the year from varying countries of origin.
Most recognisable with a red outer skin, there are many varieties grown and used for their sweet and tangy seeds of which there can be over 200 in each fruit. As the only edible part, the seeds have many nutritional benefits, being high in fibre, vitamins and minerals while also being low in calories and fat. Perhaps most often used in juice form, the raw seeds are perfect mixed
through a salad or over various cooked meats to offer a tangy crunch.
About the Farmer
We always try to get our fresh produce from local farmers, and by using those smaller scale, non-contract farms, it results in a better quality of products for our customers. If we have to adapt to the changing market conditions, we always ensure we use the regional farm network, pick the best quality produce and ensure a fair price is paid through the supply chain to support the British farming community.
