Grapefruits are known for being a large, sour to semi sweet, somewhat bitter fruit. They are actually a natural hybrid cross between an orange and pomelo that was first discovered in Barbados, it is thought they got their name from their likeness to grapes as they grow in clumps. Rich in vitamins A and C, with many other nutritional benefits, they have become a bit of a cult breakfast fruit over the years, usually offered sliced or juiced on any continental buffet you care to imagine.
