About our Red Onions
Red onions are a popular type of onion that are prized for their distinct flavour and vibrant colour. They have a deep red-purple skin and white flesh, with layers that are crisp and juicy. Red onions have a bold, sweeter taste than their white counterparts and like them, can vary in size, although it should be bigger than a pickled onion!
Red onions are a great source of vitamin C, as well as fibre and antioxidants and although they are delicious sliced thinly in salads and sandwiches, cooking them really brings out their natural sweetness and depth!
We have an excellent onion season here in Britain and they store well, so we have good availability of red onions throughout the year.
About the Farmer
We always try to get our fresh produce from local farmers, and by using those smaller scale, non-contract farms, it results in a better quality of products for our customers.
