Extended Product Information
About our Swede
Swede is a root vegetable that is a cross between a turnip and a cabbage. It has a bulbous shape with a purple-green skin and a yellow-orange flesh inside. They are a popular ingredient in traditional British cuisine, so you may remember it from your school dinners!
They are actually a great source of fibre, vitamins, and minerals, so are a great veg choice, and they have a slightly sweet and nutty flavour when cooked. Swedes can be boiled, mashed, roasted, or used in soups and stews, and are often paired with other root vegetables like carrots and potatoes.
About the Farmer
We always try to get our fresh produce from local farmers, and by using those smaller scale, non-contract farms, it results in a better quality of products for our customers. If we have to adapt to the changing market conditions, we always ensure we use the regional farm network, pick the best quality produce and ensure a fair price is paid through the supply chain to support the British farming community.
