About our Jersey Royals
Jersey Royal Potatoes are a type of potato that is native to the Channel Island of Jersey. They are a small and oval-shaped potato with a thin, delicate skin that is usually golden or light brown in colour. The flesh of Jersey Royals is yellow and waxy, with a slightly nutty and buttery flavour that sets them apart from other potato varieties.
These potatoes are grown in Jersey’s rich, fertile soil and are carefully harvested by hand between April and July, which is known as the “Jersey Royal season”. This limited season and the care that goes into growing and harvesting them makes them a highly sought-after delicacy.
Jersey Royal Potatoes are a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, and dietary fibre. They are also low in fat and calories, making them a healthy choice for those looking to maintain a balanced diet.
In terms of cooking, Jersey Royal Potatoes are versatile and can be boiled, roasted, fried, or mashed, but however your preference for cooking them, we can all agree that you simply cannot beat a Jersey Royal!
About the Farmer
We always try to get our fresh produce from local farmers, and by using those smaller scale, non-contract farms, it results in a better quality of products for our customers. If we have to adapt to the changing market conditions, we always ensure we use the regional farm network, pick the best quality produce and ensure a fair price is paid through the supply chain to support the British farming community.
